    The Medical Assistant II performs routine clinical and administrative tasks to keep the practice of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly.In addition to MA duties, workswith practicephysiciansandsupportstafftoensurepatient friendly andefficient operations. Dutiesinclude the preparation ofneeded information for patient visits andfollow-upneeds.The duties vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioners' specialty.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Pr o v ide s clinical support including, butnot limited to, the following:

    Takes patients' medical history, information pertaining to the patients' visit to the doctor , and record vital signs ofpatients to help the doctor with diagnosis

    Processing medical insurance claims, medical billing and electronic claims, and incorporating correct coding procedures

    Relaysinformationtopatientsregardingpreparationofdiagnostictestsandexaminations

    Arranges examining room instruments and equipment and keeps the examining rooms neat and clean

    Pr o v ide s administrative support including, butnot limited to, the following:

    Greetspatientswhentheyentertheclinicandgatherstheirinformationuponarrivalbyhavingthem filloutformsandanswersroutineinquiries Schedulespatientsappointments Enters/verifies/updatesPatientDemographics Collectsco-paysfrompatientsattimeofappointmentcheck-in Handlespre-authorizations/certificationsasnecessary Registration, filing and maintenance of medical records and documents

    Otherrelatedresponsibilities:

    Representstheclinicinaprofessionalmannerinperson,intelephoneconversations,andinwritten correspondence Respectsandmaintainsprivacyanddignityofpatientsandassurespatientconfidentialityatalltimes Performsbasicclericalfunctionssuchasphotocopying,scanning,fax,sortsanddistributesmail Prioritizeandorganizeworkload Maintainsformsandofficesuppliesrequiredforfrontdeskactivities Anyotherdutiesasassigned

    Educationand Experience:

    HighSchoolDiplomaorGEDrequired Graduate from an accredited medical assisting education program required Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT required Minimum of two years of experience inamedical office setting required Knowledgeofmedicalterminology KnowledgeandproficiencywithMicrosoftWord, Outlook, and electronic medical recordsrequired

    Knowledge,Skills and Abilities:

    Strongoralandwrittencommunicationskillsareessential Vital signs, patient assessment Administration of medications (Oral, IM, Sub-q, Intradermal, IV Attention to accuracy anddetail Ability to work independently Demonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of staff satisfaction
